Wash Your Kit

Gyrodactylus Salaris

Paddlers travelling to Europe should be aware of a serious fish disease - Gyrodactylus salaris (Gs) that could have severe consequences if it was brought back into the UK.  It is a water bourne disease and so can potentially be brought back in wet kit, water in boats etc.

The Scottish Canoe Association is issuing advice about washing kit before returning to the UK to reduce the likelihood of canoeists unwittingly importing the parasite.  If you are planning to canoe abroad or have recently returned from a trip Find out how to disinfect your kit.
